Zakary Stewart, son of U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Stephen Stewart, U.S. Space Command Geospatial Intelligence Division superintendent at Schriever Space Force Base, won the Boys and Girls Club of America Military Youth of the Year Award 2022.

Since 1947, Military Youth of the Year has been the BCGA’s highest award and celebrates the achievements of club members. Winners are recognized for their leadership, community service and academic excellence.

Stewart has been part of the BCGA for eight years. He has completed 80 hours community service this year and won the Billy Mitchell award at the Colorado Military Academy, earning the rank of 2nd Lt.

“It’s an honor to win [Youth of the Year],” said Stewart. “I care a lot about the people here at the program.”

Stewart will be participating in regional competitions against other club members, who have also won at the local club level, across the state of Colorado in Dallas, Texas on June 10.

Stewart enjoys the leadership opportunities the BCGA has afforded him, and aspires to attend the Air Force Academy to study aerospace engineering.
