Recently leaders from three allied Defense Services achieved a major milestone when signing a trilateral Combined Operations Concept supporting Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability.

DARC is an emerging global network of three ground-based space sensors to be operated in collaboration between the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

“The trilateral partnership is now more critical than ever,” said Brig Gen Chandler P. Atwood, deputy commander of U.S. Space Operations Command. “DARC is a critical capability for the defense of all our nations, not just the U.S.”

Atwood signed the trilateral agreement along with Mr. Michael Hunt, assistant secretary for the AUS Space Systems Branch, Capability Acquisition & Sustainment Group; and Commodore Anthony Williams, director of space capability for the UK Space Command.

Enhanced defense capabilities, including DARC, enables better conflict deterrence as well as supports stability and strategic balance globally, said Atwood.

DARC will be operated under this trilateral agreement, leveraging emerging technology to enhance mutual benefits and strengthen collaboration in space surveillance. Additionally, this cooperation will enable collection sharing and exploitation of all global sensor data derived from DARC and will enhance interoperability opportunities of command and control and the coordination of deep space surveillance missions.
