PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Gen. Gary Thomas, Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, visited Peterson Air Force Base and Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, on Dec. 10-11. During the stop, Thomas and a group of leaders from organizations across the Marine Corps visited with the U.S. Space Command command team, U.S. Army Gen. James Dickinson and Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott Stalker, and leaders of Joint Task Force-Space Defense, the National Space Defense Center and 527th Space Aggressors Squadron.
Other visitors included Maj. Gen. Matthew Glavy, Marine Corps Forces Space and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace commands commander; Maj. Gen. Kevin Iiams, Deputy Commandant for Information; Brig. Gen. Arthur Pasagian, Marine Corps Systems Command commander; Brig. Gen. Jay Bargeron, Marine Corps Education Command commander; and Brig. Gen. Michael Borgschulte, Marine Corps Manpower Management director.
MARFORSPACE was activated in October as the Marine Corps forces command subordinate to USSPACECOM. MARFORSPACE, created from the existing space expertise in Marine Corps Forces Strategic Command, will focus on providing space operational support to the Fleet Marine Force while building a convergence capability to increase warfighter lethality.
