Mission Delta 2 (MD 2) conducts Space Domain Awareness (SDA) operations to identify, characterize, and exploit opportunities and mitigate vulnerabilities in the national security space terrain on behalf of the United States Space Force and United States Space Command.
From left, U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. David N. Miller, Jr., Space Operations Command commander; Col. Angelo Fernandez, incoming Mission Delta 3 commander; and Col. Nicole Petrucci, outgoing MD 3 commander, stand at attention during the closing of MD 3’s change of command ceremony at Peterson Space Force, Colorado, March 7, 2025. During Petrucci’s command, the unit transitioned to a provisional integrated mission delta construct, now mission delta, that organizes service activities around mission areas instead of functional specialties. Petrucci will go on to the Space Operations Command Headquarters staff to lead Future Operations. The units now falling under Fernandez’s command include the 4th, 5th, 16th, and 23rd Electromagnetic Warfare Squadrons, the 37th Tactical Intelligence Squadron, and the 3rd Combat Training Squadron.
