USSPACECOM hosts Australian Chief of the Defence Force
U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. John Shaw, U.S. Space Command deputy commander, speaks with Gen. Angus Campbell, Australia’s Chief of the Defence Force, during a visit to USSPACECOM headquarters, May 19, 2023, Peterson Space Force Base, Colo. During the visit, members of USSPACECOM briefed General Campbell and discussed deepening U.S.-Australian military space cooperation to address growing threats in the space domain. The U.S. and Australia have a long history of close cooperation and mutual interest in the responsible use of space for peaceful purposes, which was recently reaffirmed by the signing of an enhanced space cooperation memorandum of understanding (ESC MOU) which will see ongoing engagement between USSPACECOM and Australia’s Defence Space Command. The ESC MOU, a non-legally binding framework for deepened military cooperation in the space domain, was signed Apr. 20, 2023, at Space Symposium 38 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
